Students ability in TaeKwonDo is recognised by the awarding of different belts. Before taking your black belt, there are 10 kup grades, with beginners starting at 10th Kup, and passing through to 1st Kup. Click on the name of a belt below to see the syllabus which indicates what you will be examined on when taking the grading for a particular belt. Note however that you will also be expected to be proficient in all the previous syllabuses, and may also be asked to perform other moves not on the syllabus to test particular aspects of your ability in TaeKwonDo.
Gradings for Kup belts are held every 4 months at the club (usually in April, August and December) by a 4th Dan or higher black belt, qualified BTCB Examiner. To grade, students must have attended classes regularly, have completed the syllabus, and have been recommended by one of the instructors to grade. All successful students will received an ETU registered certificate. Gradings for 1st Dan black belts and higher grades are run by the BTCB, and are held three times a year. |
